Eco Committee - Pwyllgor Eco
Vision - Stewardship of our local and wider world, creating a sustainable future.
Purpose - to help our school become more environmentally friendly and sustainable.
Previously:
- Eco-Schools Success: We have worked towards and achieved our Bronze and Silver Eco-Schools Awards, recognising our commitment to caring for the environment.
- Green Fundraising: We raised funds by planting and selling plants at our summer fair, helping to support future eco-projects.
- Encouraging Biodiversity: Our pupils built bird feeders and planted fruit trees and other plants around the school to attract wildlife and increase biodiversity.
- Water Wise: We carried out a water audit to check for leaking taps and make sure we are using water responsibly.
- Active Citizens: Members of our Eco-Committee attended the YouthCOP Conference, learning how young people can take action to protect the planet.
Aims:
- Ensure all children know how to recycle and understand why it’s important to reduce waste.
Create clear, child-friendly labels for all bins around the school to make recycling easy for everyone.
Reduce the amount of waste that we produce by reusing materials wherever possible.
Ensure scrap paper in classrooms is used properly to cut down on unnecessary paper waste.
