Welcome back Year 6 - Croeso i Flwyddyn 6!
The Autumn term was a blur! We hope everyone had a really good Christmas break and are well rested for the next term. The main book we will be reading this term is the Hobbit, which is part of J.R.R Tolkein's Middle Earth world. Being my favourite set of books, I hope to instil this love of the book to the year 6 pupils!
This Term's Topic: Chwedlau, Hud a Lledrith - Legends, Magic and Wonder
This term's value is Courage. With that in mind, embrace Bilbo's journey unexpectedly into the mystical world of Middle Earth - exploring its roots in Welsh and Celtic culture, art and language. Along the way we'll discover the landscapes that shaped the myths and legends of the Mabinogion and the tales that shaped the landscapes of Middle Earth, before writing and performing our own Myths and Legends using a variety of technological and artistic techniques.
With the Hobbit as our focus this term, using both the book and scenes from the film. We will be discussing how the movie score helps influence the film, as well as how the descriptive writing helps us imagine what different places looked like for Bilbo and his party.
Homework is uploaded to our Google Classroom which can be accessed with your HWB logins (sent home at the beginning of term). There, you'll find a weekly activities maths mainly but we will also be having homework surrounding our topic.
PE sessions take place on Wednesdays with Mr Smith. Please ensure your child has kit on these days. It takes place in the morning so they can come into school wearing their kit if they wish.
