Hello and welcome to Reception's class page!
We have absolutely loved having the children back in school and they've been absolute superstars. We've been doing lots of exploring, investigating and getting messy! Below is some important information about our class and some photos showing you some of the fun things we have been doing!
Miss Pelech and the Early Years Team
- Forest schools is Friday afternoon. Please can the children make sure they have wellies and wet weather gear as we plan on going out in all weathers!
- P.E. is Wednesday morning. The children can come to school in their P.E. kit and won't need to get changed.
- The children will be given milk every morning and have time for a snack every afternoon. Please could you provide your children with a healthy snack, e.g. some fruit or vegetables.
- Home learning and reading records are uploaded to the class Seesaw page. The children should all have individual logins for this.
Our topic - Roots, Shoots and Muddy Boots
We choose our topics by thinking about what the children will enjoy learning and also by what the children are interested in.
This term we will be exploring the garden and all things growing. We will be doing lots of planting and learning about the plants around us. We will be working with the other classes in the school to grow our school community garden. We will also learn about mini-beasts and hopefully hatching our own butterflies! As the weather gets warmer we hope to do lots of our learning outside. With this in mind we will also be learning about sun safety and how to look after ourselves when it's hot. The children have decided they would like to make a bug and fairy world for inside the classroom and have their own planting station outside to practice their planting skills.
Keep an eye on twitter for lots of photos of all the fun things we do!
We will be using our Read, Write Inc programme to support Literacy, along with our Oxford Reading Tree home school reading books. We will also be running a library where the children will choose a book to take home.
The children will start to take home Oxford reading scheme books when they are ready to do so. They will also be given high frequency words to take home. These are vital to helping the children understand the books so we ask that you spend some time helping the children learn them. These will be given in sets of 4 as different characters. As they learn each characters words, they will be given a certificate to take home.
Below you can find each characters words.
Please can you spend 10 minutes daily supporting your child read. This could be using flashcards for sounds, high frequency words or reading books.
We would also be very grateful if you could make comments on their home learning account on seesaw.
Please see below for some documents about how to support your child's reading at home.
